How to import a Tripo model into Blender
Blender and Tripo GLB go together well: import the original GLB with glTF 2.0 and most PBR materials arrive intact. This guide shows the download, the import, and how to fix the usual scale and material issues.
Import Tripo into Blender, step by step
- 1
Download the Tripo model as GLB
Copy a studio.tripo3d.ai link you can open, analyze it in Tripo Grab, and download the original GLB. Zip separate textures if the asset list shows them.
- 2
Import the GLB into Blender
In Blender, go to File > Import > glTF 2.0 (.glb/.gltf) and choose the GLB. The mesh and materials should arrive together.
- 3
Check scale and orientation
Select the imported object and check size and rotation. Tripo models vary in scale, so resize and rotate to fit your scene, then apply scale with Ctrl+A > Scale.
- 4
Fix flat materials
If the model looks flat, open the Shader Editor and check that Base Color, Normal and Roughness maps are connected on the Principled BSDF. Reconnect maps from the texture zip if needed.
Blender import fixes
- Import GLB for Blender, not OBJ, when you want PBR materials.
- Apply transforms after resizing, so later exports behave predictably.
- Keep the original GLB as a backup before you edit the mesh.
Tripo to Blender questions
Why does my Tripo model look flat in Blender?+
Usually a material map is not connected. Check the Shader Editor and reconnect maps from the texture zip.
GLB or FBX for Blender?+
GLB for Blender alone. FBX is mainly for moving a model onward to a game engine.
Try it on your own model
Paste a link you can already open, preview it, then download the format you need.
